Miku has been featured before as a daily fig and as a music video idol, but never before has she been featured as the leek waving tycoon of Monopoly. As mentioned elsewhere Hatsuna Miku is a Vocaloid character used for the marketing of the popular singing synthesizer software developed by Yamaha. This shot and lots more can be found over at figure.fm.
This is really a self serving post because I recently watched the series this character is from and I just felt like ranting about it. When I saw this fig pop up on figure.fm I thought to myself “hey here is my chance to bitch about Fate/Stay Night.” So that is exactly what I am going to do, but first lets go ahead and do the introduction.
This sword wielding figure is that of the character Saber from anime series Fate/Stay Night. Saber is a knight summoned to this world by main character Shiro Emiya to participate in the war for the Holy Grail, save the world, and of course fall in love.
I have a rule in anime that I have spent years cultivating. The rule is principally similar to that of the rule Leela suggests Fry use when telling stories. In Fry’s case, the rule is to always end his stories a sentence early. In my case, the rule is to never watch the last episode of an anime you like because invariably the creators of the series will have either found the most depressing possible ending or the dumbest possible ending. I have no idea how I failed so badly at following my own rule, but Fate/Stay Night manages to end up squarely in both the depressing and dumb categories.
My enjoyment of the series fits amazingly into an inverted U-shape curve, with zero enjoyment on either end. All bitching aside, that middle part is pretty awesome, just do yourself a favor and skip the first episode and half the last episode and substitute your own beginning and end.
Moe moe kyun, indeed. Mio is for sure looking cute and seksi, and our hearts would be going *kyun kyun* if ours weren’t made of brass gears and cogs. The shot is of a new 1/8th scale fig being distributed by Good Smile Company. We’ve gone ahead and included a couple more shots in a gallery for you. Speaking of which, it doesn’t matter how long or hard you look, you still won’t see panties. We hypothesize that it’s really better off that way since as long as they remain unobserved they are both there and not there. Score one for Schrödinger and his zombie cat.
So it’s been a few days since we posted a Daily Fig, mostly because over the weekend we had something in the neighborhood of three on the front page and it really started to creep us out and we had ourselves a little self imposed intervention. So it’s sort of the not so daily fig at this point but having partially fallen off the wagon we are letting loose on you this fig of Lupin III. Lupin is the lead character in the anime of the same name who leads a small gang of criminals on various heists, sort of like Leverage and Hustle. I don’t remember where I saw these shots so I apologize to the source. To make it up to the rest of you I’ll also include a completely unsourced shot of Fujiko Mine.
Kirsten Dunst Visits Akihabara: Dresses the part.
February 23rd, 2010 | by GeoffSKirsten Dunst recently visited Akihabara. I don’t actually know how recently. I don’t really intend on finding out either. What I do know is that the video is pretty cool and potentially not terribly safe for work. Unless panties and boobies are not explicitly covered in your offices policies, in which case I highly encourage you to push the envelope! Maybe they will name the rule after you, who knows?
I thought she may be going for a cosplay of a character I wasn’t familiar with. She kind of looked like several. Brooks, being a man of the world(as it can be accessed via the internet) informed me that “it’s just generic mahou shoujo.” Whatever that means.
The music is meh, but the video itself makes up for it so check it out. Mute it if you need to.

Larry Carroll, of MTV’s Splashpage, sat down with Jon Landau who talked about Director James Cameron’s intent to take on the task of bringing Battle Angel Alita to film once Avatar 2 is completed. I gotta say I have the feeling this won’t go so well, and will still make 2 trillion dollars for Cameron to swim around in like Old Scrooge McDuck.
“We had a wonderful writer who came in and collaborated with Jim, Laeta Kalogridis, who worked on it; Laeta brought to our attention that there was much more to this world of Battle Angel than we ever knew,” explained Landau. “We were familiar with the anime that had been produced, we were familiar with one of the main books. But she opened us up to the other nine books that exist, and how rich that world is.”
In a way, it was this eye-opening that caused Cameron to choose “Avatar” first.
“We really wanted to take our time in developing a large arc-ing story that really encompasses the whole world,” remembered Landau. “We were very close to doing that movie before we did ‘Avatar,’ and I think you’ll see that resurface. That’s a story in our minds about: What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to fall in love? Are you human if you have a heart? Are you human if you have a mind? Or are you human if you just have a body? It’s a journey of self-discovery for a young girl.”
Check out the rest of the interview over at MTV Splashpage.
Quite decent Rap song all about probing and scanning for all “Those Minerals” in Mass Effect 2. While it is admittedly pretty good, I don’t think MikuMikuDance is in any danger of being dethroned as my number one YouTube productivity killer. For those of you at work, it drops the F’bomb in there so, I don’t know, shut your door or something.

FUNimation has just announced that it has acquired all sorts of fancy licencing rights to the hit television Anime series Trigun. They speculated that we should see it start to hit shelves once again this fall. Being one of the first Animes that I was exposed to it has a pretty high ranking on my list of favorites. In fact I still have the box set that I bought during its last release by Pioneer and am happy to see that more will have the opportunity to experience the sci-fi/comedy.
Happy Valentine’s Day to the literally dozens of 2f readers everywhere. To celebrate we have selected one of our favorite characters, Yoko! She manages to warm even the cold mechanical hearts of us fedora wearing chaps, one Mech busting rifle round at a time. If you are unfamiliar with Yoko, she hails from one of the best animes ever made, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. This shot came from figure.fm and was posted by optimisticpenguin101. This shot is only one of many with the V-Day theme so go check out the rest.
Here on Two Fedoras, we like figs. We like figs a lot. Some might even speculate that we have an “unhealthy preoccupation” with figs. So we try and post one daily. Today’s shot comes from figure.fm featuring Kagami Kuro from “Kodomo no Jikan“, be sure to click on through and check out what’s happening over there.
