It’s been a very long time since we last mentioned Black Pants Game Studio’s Tiny and Big. Since before they released the first iteration Tiny and Big: Up That Mountain. Well they’re back again with another helping of laser cutting with what I suppose you could call it a 3D physics puzzle platformer? Well in any case Tiny and Big: Grandpa’s Leftovers’ time in alpha is finally coming to an end and to celebrate the developers have released a, dare I say it, cutting edge trailer. Get it? Because he cuts things with his thingamajigger? What ever, just click on through and find some official details and the neat-o trailer. Keep reading

XBLA Deals 50% off Limbo, Dishwasher, and Death by Cube
I hope you guys have your Gold Memberships up to date. You’ll be needing them for this weeks XBLA deals. I don’t normally post on these because the majority of the deals are fairly lame, but this weeks are an obvious exception. You’ll be able to pick up Playdead’s Limbo, Ska Studios’ The Dishwasher: VS, and Square Enix’s Death By Cube for 50% off each. Okay so Death By Cube isn’t quite the exception I mentioned, but the other two sure are.
Humble Voxatron Debut Bundle adds on extras
By now you know the drill. It’s like clock work really. The bundle kicks off with a single game or set of games and then a day or two later they start adding more stuff in. It’s the tried and true sweetening of the deal and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t work every time. We hadn’t mentioned it until now, but the Humble Bundle has launched a new bundle in a manner similar to that of the Frozen Synapse bundle. You’ll pick up Voxatron pay what you want, but if you beat the average you’ll also be treated to the bonuses that are Blocks That Matter and The Binding of Isaac. Hit the jump, watch the bundle trailer and then go make the right decision and pick it up. Keep reading
Trick or Treat from NES Rock Legends, The Minibosses
After years of waiting, we finally have a new Minibosses album. But it isn’t quite what you would expect. Brass 2, The album they are currently producing with Tim Green of “The Fucking Champs”, is scheduled for a December release. So what is this free Halloween EP available on Theshizz.org? Easy, it’s a homage to six classic video game songs done in the style of John Carpenter’s classic theme from the “Halloween” franchise. Most all tracks are just shy of two minutes, and not a single flaming guitar shred can be heard, although some sweet licks make an appearance in the “Goonies” track. Needless to say, it sounds nothing like anything the ‘bosses have put out before, but quite fitting for the occasion and the price isn’t too bad either.
Pick it up here to spruce up your spookyday.

Binding of Isaac update unleashed, now with more crying
While Geoff toils away at Dungeon Defenders, I tend more towards the likes of Edmund McMillen’s roguelike shooter crying simulator The Binding of Isaac. So today, the tears are of joy as he has updated the game with its final pieces including fixes, new items, a new unlockable character, and even an entirely new floor and final boss. I said it already in my review, but just buy the damn game. It’s on Steam and it’s $5.
Check out the update trailer and patch notes below.
Review: Serious Sam: The Random Encounter
We’ve been seeing a lot of mashups lately. Then again the combination of seemingly incompatible things has long been an earmark of the indie ethos. The latest such idea we’ve had the pleasure of playing is Vlambeer’s Serious Sam: The Random Encounter which seeks to wed the strikingly dissimilar aspects of the calculated turn-based RPGs and the frenetic twitch play of a shmup.
Escape Goat passes peer review, trailered, cover arted
Seems like we’ve been waiting forever for MagicalTimeBean’s latest puzzle platformer Escape Goat to make its way through the Peer Review process on the XBLIG. Did anyone explain to the playtesters that the scorpion mouse is actually a feature and not a bug? Anyways, the game should be popping up on the marketplace in the next couple days and as such we’ve got trailers and the above cover art now available to us. Hit the jump to have a watch and when you’re done check out our interview with creator Ian Stocker. Keep reading
Dan Hipp’s Halloween pop art zombie Link
Continuing the fun game-related art posts from some of my favorite artists: today finds illustrator Dan Hipp drawing up a lanky zombified link in tradition of the season.
He regularly posts some fantastic pop art takes on some very nerdy things, so check out his blog at mrhipp.blogspot.com
Out There Somewhere doesn’t seem that far out there at all
Brazilian indie dev team Studio MiniBoss appear to have been hard at work. Their next game Out There Somewhere is looking pretty nice, with its cutesy pixel art alien captain exploration goodness and teleporter gun mechanics.
You can find out more about them and their games at studiominibosses.com, and check out the Out There Somewhere teaser below.
