A brief guide to the gameplay modes of Dungeon Defenders

Dungeon Defenders Sweaty Huntress

It’s about time I started leveraging the 150 hours I’ve wasted invested in Dungeon Defenders to create some useful content for 2F beyond the already completed review of the game. So I suppose I’ll start with one of the most basic topics of all, the various gameplay modes. Not only that but I’ll be sure to toss in any pearls of wisdom I may have to offer. Keep reading

Review: Escape Goat

Escape Goat by MagicalTimeBeanI’m sure you’ve often asked yourself: What would happen if Rube Goldberg had worked on NES puzzle favorite Adentures of Lolo?

You probably wouldn’t exactly get a game centered on the jailbreak antics of a determined goat and his hat wearing mouse friend. But, you just might end up with something that feels the way the latest game from the mind of MagicalTimeBean’s Ian Stocker does as you guide said goat in collecting keys, flipping switches, and calling on mouse magic in Escape Goat. The mist surrounding Hollow’s Deep lifts a bit further, details revealed, art surfaces

It’s been over a month since our last post on Hollows Deep in which Brooks coined the term Deepy. Unfortunately this time you’ll have to settle for my decidedly less creative wordplay. So what have we learned about the Chevy Ray project this evening? Well it’s a 2D platformer featuring a female lead character with a jaded outlook on life and quite a burden to bear in protecting her village.

We also discovered that the game is not going to be a flash title and is being created using the XNA framework. That means it will undoubtedly be capable of being played on the PC as well as potentially on the Xbox, though I suspect that would require an XBLA deal to make it worth the developers while. These are just a couple of the highlights from the just published blog post by Chevy Ray, hit the jump and have a look at some more of Sara Gross’s truly inspired work after the jump. Dungeon Defenders Sweaty Huntress

Oh come on, you knew I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to talk more about Dungeon Defenders. Truth is I’m actually playing the “Pure Strategy” mode in the background as I write this! And while it is great to hear that Trendy Entertainment is being rewarded for their hard work, business is pretty boring and special events aren’t. So without further Financial jibber-jabber check out the special wallpapers and schedules below. Keep reading

Review: DLC Quest

DLC Quest Review

Sometimes it’s okay to be short. In fact, knowing exactly how far to take something before it’s played out can be a great deal more challenging than dreaming something up in the first place. Just look to games like Final Fantasy XIII which utilized a thirty hour tutorial. Or even the movie Sucker Punch, which you wished was over the second the previews ended. Like some sort of aged sage, DLC Quest developers Going Loud Studios walks this line and walks it well. Keep reading

You’ll make your way through the levels collecting coins and purchasing additional content that SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE GAME TO BEGIN WITH! GAH. Frozen Synapse to be at your finger tips next year

Frozen Synapse on iPad

There are few gameplay styles that truely lend themselves to play with touchscreen interfaces. The simultanious turn based strategy genre happens to be one of the best of this select group. So it was really only a matter of time before developer Mode 7 caved under the pressure and began the process of bringing Frozen Synapse to the big little screen of the iPad. And you know what that means don’t you? We’ve all got a new game to take to the bathroom! I love science. Keep reading

Steam Midweek Madness save 50% on Bastion

Bastion 50% off Midweek Madness

I haven’t had the opportunity to pick up Bastion yet and as it turns out that means I’ll be able to save a little dough. The quite well received action RPG from Supergiant Games is currently this weeks Midweek Madness deal on Steam. You’ll be able to pick the game up for half its regular price, a mere $7.49. But you’d better act fast, the sale will only last for a little under two days.
