Tribute Games extends Wizorb’s PC reach

tribute games wizorb review

Earlier this week, yesterday(internet time is fast), we reported on Wizorb finally landing on the PC via GamersGate. Well the options just got broadened a bit as the game is now available from Desura as well. Wizorb finds itself once again priced at $2.99. As for me, I’m just excited to know they are hitting multiple distribution platforms. Particularly because I’m looking to add it to my library of choice, Steam.

Explodemon goes critical on PC

Explodemon now available on PC

Hot on the heels of the release of Curve Studios lunch break project Stealth Bastards, Explodemon has also made its way onto the PC Platform. Explodemon started life as a Playstation Network exclusive and was the object of desire for many a PC gamer. As of today the game is available via GamersGate and Impulse(GameStop *spit*) for $9.99. Rumors are that Stealth Bastards was released for free as the build up for a big  Curve Studios event, but I’m not convinced this is it. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens next. Hit the jump, enjoy some screenshots, and a trailer perhaps. Keep reading

Red Tie Miner strutting his stuff in new gameplay video

Red Tie Miner's Potential Cover Art

The game is still listed as coming soon, but it certainly looks like developer Maximinus is getting very close to releasing Red Tie Miner. I will say the game looks pretty interesting and should be a nice addition to the XBLIG. I do want to make one suggestion to the developer if they ever come around, please change that digging sound. It needs to be muchmore subtle or it will get annoying fast. Hit the jump and have a watch..OUT FOR CAVE INS! Keep reading

Top 5 most and least delicious game characters of all time

Hot Wings, Probably Toki Tori's

I’ve been teasing the TwoTribes PR people running their Twitter account for some time now about the inherently delicious nature of their little yellow mascot. Today that got me to wonder just what other game characters are pretty delicious and better yet which ones in particular, weren’t. Yeah, yeah, so I was hungry — shut up! Hit the jump for our picks of the top five most and least nommy game characters. Keep reading

Nothing brings a smile to my face like wars, Happy Wars

Happy Wars

Three classes, up to thirty player online multiplayer, and an offline campaign mode makes Toylogic’s Happy Wars a pretty ambitious looking project. Based on the trailer footage I’d say the game reminds me a lot of Realm of the Mad God  and of course World of Warcraft Battlegrounds. What I’m not seeing though is any indication of an RPG element. While that is actually a boon to a better PvP experience for a player like me who has to subsidize poor skill with uber gear. I do find the sheer scale of the scenes pretty impressive and I think you will too, so hit the jump and have a watch below the fold. The game is expected to release next year on XBLA.  Keep reading

Rochard inverts gravity, winds up landing on Steam

Rochard releasing on Steam November 15th

Oh look what we’ve got here. A 2d side-scrolling action adventure puzzle platformer? How could something with that many genre tie ins not be good!? Recoil Games’ Rochard made its debut on the PlayStation Network back in September and has since done quite well there. And now, fortunately for those of us of an alternate platform persuasion, the game will be making the jump from PSN to the PC via Valve’s Steam platform. The game will be releasing November 15th at what Recoil Games calls a “very reasonable price.” Hit the jump and check out the press release and brand new launch trailer. Keep reading

Wizorb paddles its way onto PC today

Wizorb Now Available on PC and XBLIG

The beautiful Arkanoid-like Wizorb from Tribute Games got its start on the XBLIG just a little over a month ago. Since then the team of pros have been hard at work getting the game ready for its PC debut. The meat of the game is the same, but the obvious controller difference will make for a different experience. Before you’re off to GamersGate to pick up your DRM-free copy of Wizorb for just $2.99, stop by our review and see what we thought.

Minecraft passes 4 million copy milestone

Not too shabby for a game not even out of beta yet, Minecraft has just sold its 4,000,000th copy. I wanted to actually put all those zeros there so it looked that much more impressive. It’s been a little over a year since I first played Minecraft. I was really quite skeptical of it at first as it was a recommendation from the overly cerebral Brooks Bishop. But in the end it was, is, and will likely continue to be one of the most unique gaming experiences of my life. Very few are the games that have released that I regularly think to myself, “I can’t wait to see this thing in 5 years.” Minecraft is one of them, I literally can’t wait. Will it grow up to be the visual Dwarf Fortress I’ve always dreamt of with vastly varying experiences the depths of which are incomprehensible? Or will the game arc off into a different trajectory and become one of the most unique action adventure games ever? I suppose time will only tell. So let the 4 million of us celebrate with Mojang the game we have and the experiences to come.

Have a walk down memory lane and check out a 2009 tigforums post from an unknown developer introducing an unknown Infiniminer inspired block building game.

SteveCraft, every where I look I see his face

SteveCraft Pig Steve

Shut up, that line isn’t from a song you know. It’s from every song you know. But did you know that you can download the SteveCraft texture pack for Minecraft that makes everything look like Steve. See that sheep? It looks like Steve now. Everything, the sun, the moon, the squids, the cows, the crafting box, even ghasts are wearing Steve’s skin. Actually, now that I say it that way, it just got a lot more creepy. I’ve included just a couple of my favorite shots of the texture pack, but there are a ton more over at the Block by Block blog so you’want to head over there and have a look at the dozens they’ve got. As Brooks said, they are ridiculous, scary, and silly. Keep reading
