The Binding of Isaac is at long last available…almost

Binding of Isaac Now available on Steam

Finally, a day can go by, where I don’t have to listen to Brooks say “Why isn’t it September 28th” To which I would always replay “why?”  Just as I’d utter that quizzical retort I’d instantly recall that it was the release of  The Binding of Isaac.  Well within the hour, the long wait will be over and the latest game from Super Meat Boy co-creator Edmund McMillen will become available on Steam(with an introductory 10% discount). Want to get in the mood to help poor little Isaac flee his schizophrenic mothers wrath? Well in the whee hours of the morn Danny Baranowsky unleashed his soundtrack for the game so hop on over to bandcamp to pick it up for a buck.

Review: PC Gamer Digital

PC Gamer DIgital Steam Edition Review

This is a bit of an odd review, it’s not a game review though it is game related. Mostly though it is a review of the traditionally print based PC Gamer’s attempt to transcend the paper medium without ditching the cost of admission. This is a pretty rapidly growing trend amongst the print media, but just as many of them that try seem to miss the mark entirely.

In this particular instance PC Gamer has opted for the multimedia experience angle. Most of your traditional media guys think the stuff they’ve been making for years is perfectly appropriate to toss on a scanner, plop the scans into a slide show, and toss it onto an iPad and charge you retail price ads and all. Instead PC Gamer Digital has brought together a medly of interactive content and placed them within a controlled ecosystem that also provides a social experience on the backbone of Valve’s Steam platform. Review: Demolition Inc.

Review of Demolition Inc. by Zeroscale

As a gamer, saving the world is old hat — some days we save the world more than once before breakfast. It’s just become that routine. Now, destroying the Earth’s major cities and turning it into a galactic recreation area, that’s considerably more fresh. So you’d better grab your hard hat because you’ve just been awarded the contract to ransack Earth in the physics puzzler Demolition Inc.

Gameplay

Zeroscale’s Demolition Inc. is a pretty casual physics puzzler. The design is fairly simplistic with much of its complexity outsourced to its physics and map design. Currently on the PC platform, the controls work extremely well from its top down perspective via mouse and keyboard. Those who’ve ever played anything like a RTS or Diablo will have little to no trouble getting a feel for things. Keep reading

IndieCity getting ready for liftoff

The IndieCity blog lit up today for a very special announcement. It looks like the dedicated indie distribution platform is just about ready to kick things off all official like. They’ve certainly got a lot of work cut out for them, building a library of high quality indie games and competing with the likes of Steam for mind share and if that’s not a barrier for entry I don’t know what is. So what’s the plan? Well the plan has been broken down into four phases. Keep reading

A noobs guide to the Minecraft Server Settings v1.8

Hot Creeper Girl Is Hot

I have no idea who drew this, if it is your work please leave a comment so I can attribute it properly!

As some of you may know, we here at 2f love our Minecraft and we love playing together on a server. I ended up having to host the server, because Brooks’ connection wasn’t reliable. This left the fate of our entire blocky world in the hands of a bonafide amateur. Initially I just set up a server and let it ride with all the defaults intact. As we progressed through the game and wanted to try different and crazier things, I ended up needing to delve deeper in to acting a bit more like an administrator. I found this to be kind of challenging, finding all the right resources was difficult and learning through trial and error wasn’t a viable solution. Eventually I got the hang of most of it and so I thought I’d bring a few of the resources together for any of you out there who have embarked on hosting a Minecraft server and like me lacked a certain technical know how. 2f Cast 003: It’s a Topical Dead Zone

Two Fedoras PodcastWe’re back with another cast featuring Brooks, Jesse, and myself talking about all topics that spontaneously pop up! In this particular episode we cover everything from storage mediums to Mega64 news and even a little about our new webdesign. Needless to say it’s full of odd stories from Jesse and Brooks and I trying desperately to keep him on topic! Oh and those guys I was trying to remember the name of at the very beginning of the cast? It’s H.A.T. Films. Not to be confused with HAT (Horatio’s Acting Troupe).

Ready to have a go? Well this time we forwent the Twitch.tv stream recording and just went for a direct MP3 download so have a listen right here: 2fcast003.mp3

Review: Hypership Out of Control Mobile

Two Fedoras Review of Hypership out of Control mobile by FunInfused GamesIt’s been nearly a year since the initial XBLIG release of FunInfused Games’ Hypership Out of Control, and our subsequent review. Since then, developer Kris Steele has gone on to spearhead not one, but two successful indie game promotions in the form of the Winter and Summer Uprisings. And now, as he ventures to branch out from the Xbox Indie Games platform he has given us an update to the reflex-driven shmup of old by enlisting the help of Third Party Ninjas to bring the game to mobile devices everywhere.

Gameplay

To briefly recap, in Hypership Out of Control you play as a spaceship with no brakes, careening ever faster up the screen towards perils unknown, attempting to collect coins, because I’d totally steer into coins if my brakes were out. Keep reading

New design for TwoFedoras.com, now registers 6.7 Megafonzies

We spent a long time with our old web design. Some of you probably even noticed that it was pretty much straight up default Comic Press. It worked for us for a long while, notably because it was simple, elegant, and to the point — that’s what we always wanted out of our design to begin with. Once that was coupled with our innate +12 to procrastinate skill it was clear we were going to stick with it a long while. The design served us very well, and we posted almost 600 articles to it, but new is new and old is old so I’d like to welcome all of you to the new face of Two Fedoras.

A special thanks to Brooks for putting in a lot of hours bringing this design to life and to our many friends who gave us feedback! The site is still in development, specifically the side bar, so please leave us feedback in the comments!
