New Super Crossfire trailer emerges baring its publishers branding

New Super Crossfire trailer emerges baring its publishers branding

It was recently revealed that one of our favorite indie developers for the XBLIG, Radiangames, had teamed up with publisher Chillingo to bring their games to the mobile space. Proof positive that the deed is done, a new trailer has just emerged baring the Chillingo branding and showing off the delectable new Super Crossfire game in action and man is it looking good. I can’t help but get excited about playing that on the iPad.  Hit the jump and have a watch!

Editorial: Distribution Dilemma

Editorial: Origin, Steam, Impulse Driven, Greenhouse Games, IndieVania, IndieCity, Little Indie, Distributor Overload

The Chinese calander calls this the year of the rabbit and I think they may actually be on to something. That is, at least in the case of indie game platforms since they’ve apparently been breeding at that rate this year. Let’s get a quick head count shall we? IndieVania, IndiePub, IndieCity, Little Indie, and no doubt a dozen others I don’t even know about. So what’s the deal here? Is there actually a market here to support this or is this a future funeral procession that will inevitably leave thousands of gamers with orphaned licences in their wake? Keep reading

When indies go to war, everyone wins

Late last night a war began. Indie icons Edmund McMillen and Markus “Notch” Persson battled on Twitter, returning tweeted blow after tweeted blow. But this wasn’t your usual war, because these aren’t your usual game developers. There was no vitriol or hatred, rather a heated exchange of public release of codes for their own games with Notch tossing out Minecraft codes and Edmund throwing out codes for his new game The Binding of Isaac (although some of them may have also been Super Meat Boy and Gish). A few others even joined the fray, including Supergiant Games, creators of Bastion lobbing a few code grenades themselves.

@ @ @ @ youre like the Oprah of twitter AND YOU GET A GAME AND YOU GET A GAME!
@EdmundMcMillen

The most interesting thing in all this, however, was Notch’s commentary about the nature of self-publishing as an indie developer.

@ MUOAHAHAHA :-D This is the exact reason we self-publish. ;D

The war was ended by none other than everyone’s favorite bearded indie audio maestro, Danny Baranowsky who finally tweeted a photo of an excel spreadsheet containing 500 codes for the soundtrack to The Binding of Isaac.

The only casualty, was Derek Yu’s productivity.

Is a man not entitled to the fruits of his case modding?

Bioshock Welcome to Rapture PC Mod

You may think this styling is obviously inspired by that of BioShock, but believe it or not, art deco had its own period. Heck, it was around about the same time Julius Edgar Lilienfeld was filing his patents for the transistor. The point is, it’s not a new thing and it’s god damned wonderful. But I suppose once you get around to learning that creator Mórocz Gergő has named this particular mod “Welcome to Rapture” you’ve got to go along with it. Really though when I come across things like this, I can’t help be infuriated by the skill and talent that other people possess — those virtuoso bastards. How dare they enrich our lives by creating beautiful things. Go ahead and heck out a few  pictures below the fold. Keep reading

I actually don’t know if the sale is specifically because of the anniversary or just because it’s fall, but either way this deal is better than good, it’s splendid.

The  iOS version of the game is on sale  for $0.99 (HD) (Non-HD)

Mac version is also on sale for $1.99 (Mac)

The deal only lasts from now through the weekend, so act fast or you’ll be back to paying retail you procrastinating scallywags.

Tales of Video Game Fails – Episode 3: The Nintendo Virtual Boy

Tales of Video Game Fails The Nintendo Virtual Boy

I remember that red box on the counter at Target. It had a pair of legs and was festooned with  dangely bits. I’m even pretty sure I needed to stand on a stool to let it suck my face with its rubbery grommet lips. Now that I think about it Virtual Boy really did seem like it was from another world, but man could that little red Wario world get me through the weekly shopping — keep in mind that was back before code ambers were like a daily exercise. Lets face it though that thing was a disaster and also the topic of this weeks Tales of Video Game Fails!

Humble Indie Not So Bundle?

Now this is an interesting twist and I’m not too sure if it’s more carrot or stick. The Humble Indie Bundle is back a little sooner than I had expected but this time making a pretty interesting strategy change. You’ll get to buy one game, in this case Frozen Synapse, in the traditional ’name your price’ style. However, if you beat the average donation you’ll also recieve 5 additional games. I’ll go ahead and say it, this is once again fucking brilliant. The average is currently around five bucks, bid a bit over that and you’ll also take home: Trine, Shadowgrounds: Survivor, Shadowgrounds, Splot, and Jack Claw. JUST TAKE ALL MY MONEY WHY DON’T YOU.

Hit HumbleIndieBundle.com to snag your bundle.
