2f XBLIG Update Cast – 008: The ‘strafe right into my heart’ edition

Well we have a chopped up mish mash of a mess cast today. I’m not entirely sure what all the technical difficulties were about, but in the future we’ll have to simultaniously record locally and upload somewhere. So much extra work because things don’t work quite right enough, oh well. So we’ll be typing up an old fashioned summery version here for you. Anyways, this week we had a couple decent entries into the XBLIG and at least one person trying to tell the same joke twice. As for the title of the post? Well that has to do with the maker of my favorite game from the line up, Dead Pixels. The drill is the same as usual, these aren’t reviews they are simple impressions. Bold titles are the ones we liked and italics are ones we disagreed on. Keep reading

2f XBLIG Update Cast – 006: The ‘baby is a football’ Edition

Xbox Live Indie Games Marketplace XBLIG XBox360

We cut our cast a bit short last week, hoping to do a two part cast with an update later in the week. Well by the time it was Saturday, we had kind of figured out our procrastination had more or less relegated us to a big ass monday update. So here we are, big ass update in hand. We run down all the games that have released since the last update on top of all the ones we lazily skipped. The real kicker is, there are some games in there that I think are potentially better than even some of the Indie Games Summer Uprising titles. For instance the game which inspired today’s title, Koblod’s Quest, looks like an absolutely hilarious game to play on couch with friends, enemies, or friends soon to become enemies. I digress, however, the complete list of all games covered are below. The usual rules apply; bold titles demo’d well and italicized titles received disputed impressions. And remember dev’s before you start crying about how we reviewed your game, these aren’t reviews, they’re only demo impressions.

  • Take Arms
  • All the Bad Parts
  • Professional $tealer
  • Zombie Racers
  • Avatar Running
  • Rumble Voice
  • Speed Runner HD
  • Kobold’s Quest
  • Train Frontier Express
  • Chain Crusher
  • Avatar Connection
  • Chester
  • Jet Star Universe
  • Air Combat Desert Ace
  • Jellyfish MD
  • Moe Mekuri 2
  • Blockt
  • Head Shot God
  • Ninjah
  • Elemental Wizard
  • Redd: The Lost Temple

2f XBLIG Update Cast – 005: The Gyrating Babe Edition + Ponytail Physics

Xbox Live Indie Games Marketplace XBLIG XBox360

I was quietly playing through my current game Doom & Destiny when Brooks demanded we get to work on this weeks XBLIG Update. You can imagine my reluctance as I was exploring the final bosses mansion at the time. Alas, it is after all our job to make sure you don’t flush those Microsoft Banana Peels down the drain on some stupid shit screen saver ‘game.’ We will likely be doing a two parter this week, and possibly going forward, depending on the volume of games releasing at any given time. Just like always these aren’t reviews, they are simply demo impressions, so devs if you don’t think you got a fair shake consult our email box. Listed below are the games we demo’d ones that we thought may have some substance to them are in bold. Those games that are in italics are ones we were not agreed on. Oh and of course favorite our channel if you like the show.

  • Cute Things Dying Violently
  • VideoWars
  • Blobs*
  • Ambient Travels
  • Space Bat*
  • T.E.C. 3001
  • Cubicle
  • The Jump Hero
  • Doom & Destiny
  • Asphalt Jungle 2*
  • Rocks. In. Spaaace!
  • Ninja Sneaking
  • That Really Hot Chick
  • Guarding
  • Beach Bubbles 2
*special commentary directed towards the developer.

XBLIG Update Cast – 004: The all bad edition

Okay so that is an exaggeration, they weren’t all bad. Just the vast majority of them were. The overall length of this particular XBLIG Update really began to take its toll on Brooks and I. There were a few instances were I was actually becoming frustrated with a few of the games — tiptoeing dangerously close to control tossing factor five. I don’t know if it was the games or my ineptitude and I don’t think it matters. On the bright side there were a few games that were delightful and should be enjoyed hardily by the chillin! Again games we felt were worth checking out are in bold and the ones we have reviews for are linkified.

Who won the #IGSU vote? We all did

Or in a more real sense, the two community vote winners for the last two spots in the Indie Games Summer Uprising were Chester in 1st with over 700 votes, and Redd: The Lost Temple in 2nd with over 600 votes.

But beyond that, the very existence of the Uprising is a testament to the indie ethic of community support. So congratulations to the winners! But also, congratulations to the whole community for making XBLIG a better platform for quality games.

You can check out our previous Two Fedoras IGSU casts to hear our thoughts on all the entries.
