Productivity Killers: Tremerz

It’s the Monday after Easter Sunday, and you’ve got some left over ham rocking in the fridge? Nice, but you know what would help wash that down? A little flash game based on the 1990 horror flick Tremors. Save all the denezens of this Nevada shanty town in todays Productivity Killer, Tremerz. The game has lovingly recreated the decidedly bad movie experience in glorious pixel art fashion and is sure to give you flash backs to all those weekend afternoons spent watching Tremors on some network Ted Turner owns.

The browser based game can be checked out free right here.

Productivity Killer: Robot Unicorn Attack

So I’m a little late to this party, but OMG! Robot Unicorn Attack, only one word is even capable of describing it, magical. This is one of those rare instances where the music is so exceptionally well suited to the game that it makes the entire experience. The game was created by Scott “Spiritonin” Stoddard and the music is none other than Erasure’s “Always”.

Productivity Killer: Enough Marios

Enough Marios? There’s no such thing as enough Marios. Which is exactly what Glen Forrester set out to prove in his browser based and aptly named platformer Enough Marios. The premise is simple, platform your way around as a somewhat familiar but legally unique plumber while stomping on shrooms and collecting coins. The twist is that each time you do either of these things, you’re awarded a Mario clone(get it? it’s a Mario clone, with clones…). This feature is, as IndependentGames.com points out, not entirely unique. However, it is entirely amusing so go forth and propagate!

Browser based game may be played here.

Productivity Killer: Fish Face

So, it’s a game about a fish, with a face. That’s not to say, a fish’s face, but rather a man’s face. Is anyone else having flash backs to mega hit classic Dreamcast title Seaman? What do you mean you were expecting a Monty Python reference.

Other than the fish having a serious case of creepy manface, there really aren’t any other similarities to that of Seaman. Fish Face was a GAMMA 4 entry by Beau Blyth of Teknopants and as such is controlled entirely with a single button.

Fish Face has some pretty addictive qualities to it, like leaving your little fishy body laying around each time you die, so it’s sure to kill some productivity. Have fun, and good luck saving the Cephalapod Princess!

You can download the game for free here.

Productivity Killer: Condition

I hope you’ve got an active tetanus shot, because you’ll be blowing off work to gathering scrap metal in today’s Productivity Killer, Condition. This one’s a little 2D side scrolling flash game by abielins and Lycheesoup featuring a pixel art spaceman who receives a distress call from a nearby ship. Upon investigation, it is discovered that the ship is under siege by blob like creatures that must be dealt with to salvage some splendid parts. Oh! and save the crew of course.

You can play this browser based game over at Newgrounds.com.

Productivity Killer: Jetpack Basketball? Yes.

Want to play some Jetpack Basketball? I had you at “Jetpack” you say? Excellent. This interesting little game and video comes from none other than Cream Wolf and Flywrench developer Messhof. The 1-2 player jet propelled basketball game was originally released in 2009 but just had a video reuploaded and we wanted to share the pretty colors. The game can be downloaded here.

Productivity Killer: ‘Don’t Save The Princess’ Plus a ‘Cadet 227′ Trailer Bonus

So it’s Friday! Yeah yeah, I know I killed your productivity yesterday, but it’s my birthday today so I’m going to do it again because it gives me pleasure. So today’s productivity killer, Don’t Save The Princess, is a flash game that was originally created by Alexander Shen using Game Maker. Fortunately for your cubical based shenanigans it was just recently ported over to Flash by Wayne Marsh and is available for free play at Ninja Kiwi.

The objective of Don’t Save the Princess is to not save the princess. Which is apparently accomplished by feeding your knight to a giant lizard thing. The game uses tiles placed by the player to fire the knight off in various directions to get to the lizard, all the while completely ignoring the hapless damsel in distress.

On an convenient side note Alexander Shen is also working on a game called Cadet 227, an Action/Adventure game that is intended to be played entirely by sound and is made with the visually impaired in mind. The game just got a new trailer yesterday and sounds really interesting.

Productivity Killer: Redder

Oh man Thursday, it’s not quite Friday but oh so close. There is a pretty good chance you are doing one of two things right now, either day dreaming about Stripper Chewy or watching the NCAA Tournament in a browser window the boss doesn’t know you have open. Whichever the case may be, we both know you aren’t working. Fortunately, I have a third, better, option for you today, a browser based platformer called Redder.

You’re an astronaut whose jalopy ship has malfunctioned and forced an emergency landing on an alien world. It’s now your job to gather up a buncha crystals to power your ship. Redder is the latest game developed by Anna Anthropy and is pretty amusing, so go score some rock.
