User made Escape Goat puzzles probably more fun if I could play them

MagicalTimeBean’s latest XBLIG puzzler Escape Goat isn’t just a fantastic game. It’s a fantastic game with an equally amazing level editor built right in.

While I’m still slightly disappointed in the fact XBLIG as a platform has no easy way to share user generated content, this hurdle didn’t stop one player from making up a whole series of ingenious new levels. YouTuber ZDWario took to his stream with his creation so that we can at least experience the joy of new puzzles vicariously. Check out the video after the jump.

Memories of Phantasm part 2 trailer teases more animated Touhou goodness

A while back I posted about Memories of Phantasm, a fan made animated retelling of the Touhou Project game Perfect Cherry Blossom. With Comiket 81 behind us this past week, one of the more awesome things to come out of the convention is a trailer for the next installment!

This time we’ll get to witness the events of Subterranean Animism, and all the nuclear-god-eating bullet hell fights that occur as our heroines venture beneath the earth to discover what’s driving things out of hell and to the surface.

Personally, I always thought this was one of the more interesting plots,  as oddly enough, it deals with the threat of nuclear proliferation (much in the same way as Godzilla). I can’t wait for the whole video now, this initial taste is already so great.

The Epic Final Fantasy 6 Medley

Marc Papeghin Epic FF6 Medley

I am of the opinion that Final Fantasy 6 is the greatest game as of yet made. Whether or not you agree with me, I think you’ll find that this medley of tunes from some of composer Nobuo Uematu’s finest work performed by Marc Papeghin is pretty much some of the best 13 minutes you’ll spend, ever. I know it did all kinds of wonderful things to my brain.

Watch the video below, and visit Marc’s page for more of his work. Keep reading

The pianoing of Isaac, for a somber Saturday morn

The Binding of IsaacI don’t know about you, but I can barely get my two thumbs to do different things at once for purposes of game playing, let alone my entire hands for something like turning the music from The Binding of Isaac into awesome piano arrangements.

YouTube user Scamper205 can do it, though, and do it exceedingly well. Check out his version of the Danny B. composed “Repentant” below, and find more of Scamper’s handiwork on his YouTube Channel or on Twitter @TheScamper.

Indie interviews galore thanks to The Last and Final Word

I know I love reading interviews of indie game devs. They have interesting ways of doing things and looking at the world. Steve Cook thinks they’re really interesting too, and recently wrapped up an initial round of a series of interviews of the likes of Adam Saltsman, Cactus, Ted Lauterbach, Paul Hubans, and many many more.
