DLC Quest getting ported, nitty gritty gets blogged

DLC Quest Now Available on XBLIG

DLC Quest could be considered a moderate success, by XBLIG standards having sold nearly 20,000 copies at this point, but there’s more than one platform in the net, and we’ve seen time and again that though XBLIG a good entry level launch point, some games have gone on to even greater success on iOS or Steam.

So Ben Kane decided to not only work towards bringing his parody platformer to operating systems, but to log his progress every step of the way. While he’s only in day three, there’s already some interesting things to read from a technological standpoint, and this could possibly end up being a helpful guide to other devs looking to make the leap to iOS, Mac or Linux later on.

In the first post Ben mentions PC release being a priority. However, XNA being a Microsoft technology, a PC release is trivial for all intents and purposes already done, he just has to decide on where and when to release it.

On the other hand, porting XNA to Mac, iOS, Android or Linux requires a significant investment so his articles are focused on what it takes to do that.

Windows coming soon! I’m not talking about it much because it’s already pretty much finished.
