XBLIG Update: The Mum’s Day Edition

Happy Mother’s Day to all the past, present, and future mitochondrial DNA contributors out there. As a token of our appreciation, we dedicate this XBLIG Update to you. There’s actually nothing all that special about this one, I mean we do like four of these a week, but this one is your’s! All game descriptions are the handy work of the games’ respective developers, our comments are in bold.

Dust Devils
We thought we were ready for Mars, the thin atmosphere, the temperature and the tough environment, but nothing could have prepared us from what was coming. Will humanity be saved or forever perish in history? Only you can decide!

Decent twin-stick shooter action with vehicle upgrades and what not. The targets are a little small but I’m guessing the weapon upgrades make up for that later on.

The Perfect Pickup Line
Use the power of Old Spice to create perfect pickup lines and win over the ladies. Select one of four Old Spice scents to take with you into battle. Use the word spinner to fill in the blanks for each pickup line. The ladies will respond to your success… or failure. Correct words will boost your Old Spice power. When your power is full you may unleash the full potential of Old Spice.

Get in the zone. Destroy all comers. Become as one with the Overload. Blistering retro shooter action featuring 2 player co-op and online scoreboards.

I ended up buying this one. I haven’t had much of a chance to play with it yet, but I did squeeze in a few games. It’s pretty darn good, and nice to look at to boot. If you like this sort of classic styled shooter its a pretty easy one to recommend you take a look at.

Nomis: Legacy Islands
2D shooter/platformer. Defeat the robot general before he can resurrect a weapon hidden long ago. Play through 20 levels and engage in boss battles, local co-op, and upgrade your character and weapons.

Developer: Robot Foot Games

Price: 240 Microsoft Points

Kind of a neat platformer with shooter and stealth elements to it. The art doesn’t really float my boat but thats a matter of opinion really.

Hot Potato HD
Hot Potato HD a high tech take on the popular childrens game Hot Potato! Pass the potato (in the form of the Xbox Controller) back and forth while the music plays. But be careful! If you’re holding it when the music stops, Hot Potato! It’s fun for the whole family.

Text Zedventure
In this text-only adventure, you must escape a city ravaged by a mysterious infection. Explore a deserted residence, train station and shopping centre in three unique chapters with multiple endings. Colourblind friendly. A percentage of all sales will be donated to animal conservation charity Save The Rhino.

Anger Management 2
This game makes you madder.

Developer: Super Boise

Price: 80 Microsot Points

It’s just like Anger Management 1 except it’s an Asteroids style game instead of a Pong style game. Considering the first game didn’t manage to get my 80 points and this one doesn’t seem as clever as it, chances are slim I’ll be picking it up.
