Games, games games! So exciting to see games coming out again. To be honest for a while there I was beginning to think the river had run dry. Thankfully today’s six new XBox LIVE! Indie Games have proven otherwise — hell some of them are even good! Although others decided to not make the best first impression by dropping an Error Code 4 during the demo. In any event, we’ll get it all sorted out for you. You’ll find that the descriptions of the games below are that of their respective developers and that our knee-jerk criticisms to be in bold.

FAST PACED BRUTAL 4 PLAYER FIGHTING GAME !
Developer: Team Shuriken Price: 80 Microsoft Points I was pretty cool on this one when it was announced, but now I’ve gotten to play the demo and, unfortunately, I’m still pretty cool on it. The controls feel sluggish, the animations are rather rigid, and the combat is very basic. The music is pretty good and the stage art is quite nice, but they aren’t quite enough to make me want to play it. It’s possible however that the game may shine most in its multi-player mode, so if your looking for a cheap party brawler you may want to give it a closer look. |
Abduction Action |
|
![]() |
As a UFO pilot in training, you have been tasked with the overwhelming mission of invading Earth, terrorizing the locals, and returning home in one piece. Use your tractor beam to abduct helpless Earthlings and defeat aggressive foes. It will take all your skills, wits, and intellect to prove your alien worth and triumph over humanity.
Developer: Kris Steele Price: 80 Microsoft Points Abduction Action is pretty amusing and loaded with KRis Steeles usual humor. I haven’t decided to give it a buy yet, but I may end up doing so, simply to see if there are accountant ghosts in this one. Also the stereotypical alien commander, has a mighty handlebar stache how great is that. |
Quad Force |

![]() |
Top Down Cooperative 3D Shooter for 1-4 Local Players. Featuring realistic line of sight and challenging Ai, it gives you a good mix of tactics and hectic shooting. The game includes 5 maps with good replay value, 12 unique enemies, 6 weapons and 4 difficulties. Did I mention the virtually unlimited bullet holes feature?
Developer: Stolpskott Studios Price: 80 Microsoft Points This one is pretty awesome, but one must always temper my comments on twin stick shooters based on my whorish nature towards them. It uses some pretty cool line of sight elements along with traditional twin-stick mechanics. I am a little perplexed by the reload button, I guess it is there to emphasize that you should be using cover? I kind of found it annoying though. |
The Tower: A Bomb’s Climb |
|
![]() |
Ascend the tower quicker than your friends and leave them in the fire. Using a single button to power your jump find a route up the platforms of the tower to stay ahead of the competition.
Developer: SmudgedCat Price: 80 Microsoft Point This is a pretty simplistic single button game. You simply time your leaps as you make your way up to tower. It does pack a bunch of features including online and couch co-op. |
Avatars, Ghosts’n Zombies |
|
| Earth is again in serious danger. From the deapest space an asteroid full of ectoplasm has arrived. As “the chosen” your mission is to destroy the ectoplasmic menace and return earth to tranquility once again. Proof yourself trhough 57 levels in 7 different locations and save humanity from his terrible future fighting with your ray power, plasma power, flamepower and your brain.
Developer: theHans Price: 80 Microsoft Points I wasn’t overly impressed with this one. It’s basically a top down shooter with singe stick controls, which is to say you shoot in the direction you are moving. It just feels like it would be better as a twin stick, but then againwe’ve already noted my whorish twin stick inclination. |

Pixel Mix |
|
| Pixel Mix is a complex grid based puzzle game. Players must combine color tiles of different colors to create color cubes that will accomplish various tasks. Pixel Mix boasts 4 modes with distinct strategy and game play that contain many levels.
Developer: CarlosNYM Price: 80 Microsoft Points I wasn’t able to get a really good feel for this one. Namely because, as the description plainly states, it is a little complicated. |
