Hot Sauce Weekend

Whenever my parents come back from a trip, they usually bring me something.  They know me too well though, so it’s generally either a fedora or, as it was this time, a super-hot sauce.

I like how the hot sauce industry has turned to gimmicks to make their wares more recognizable.  Yui is pretty scared, while Mio just ran off to hide and cry.

If this is appealing to you, you can pick yourself up some at extremefood.com.

Soulcaster 2 in the Works! Yayz!

It looks like MagicalTimeBean, developer of Soulcaster, has been busy. Not only have they been releasing updates and fixes to the much enjoyed original title, but now it seems as though work on a sequel is well underway. Two new videos describing the map editor built for the new game along with some details on how it differes from Soulcaster 1. Consider me excited!

This is what I’ve been working on in the last few weeks.  There are a few new features, including:

  1. Multiple background layers (sky layer which is drawn above characters, for high walls or canopy)
  2. Animated decorations (e.g. torches, waterfalls)
  3. Base layer tile with optional locked scrolling and autoscroll (quick and dirty parallax or simulated palette animation)
  4. Scripting engine allows floor and trench type gates, so there can be one-way doors, collapsing bridges, cage traps

See the video here and bear with my first attempt at a narrated video:
