XBLIG Update: The Twofer Edition

It’s like an April drought on the XBLIG, we’ve only had two new games release since our last update. Fortunately, they both look to be made of pretty good stuffs. Descriptions of the games below are those of the developers, our commentary will be in bold.

Pinky vs Blocks

A game that mixes platforms, cleverness and a retro style. Guide Pinky along more than a fifty different levels where he will need to use his skills and mental controlling on the blocks falling down on him in order to scape the prison of blocks where he’s at. If you think of yourself as a master of blocks games, platform games and puzzles, you have to give Pinky vs Blocks a try!

Developer: Victor Arnelas

Price: 80 Microsoft Points

Neat little block dropping puzzle game mashed up with a bit of a platformer. It’s a pretty cool idea, but the controls are very difficult to get your head around since you basically have to play tetris with one hand and a platformer with the other.

3D Infinity

Amazing 3D shooting game! Feel the hot ride of the spinning action! How far can you catch up this intense camera work and the speed that keeps accelerating? You can experience the overwhelming pop-up 3D images by putting red-blue glasses on or playing on 3D television. Otherwise, you can still enjoy it in 2D version.

Developer: SmileBoom

Price: 400 Microsoft Points

Nice little 3D shmup. It controls a lot like the space levels from Ratchet & Clank Future: TOD. The path is predetermined, it’s just your job to dodge obstacles and fire on enemies. It definitely has the visual polish of a 400 MS Point game, so no complaints there.

Hands, Paws, and Claws on the Apple iPad

We’ve all seen the pro reviews of Apple’s latest handheld tablet, but those guys are hardly representative of the general populous. Fortunately for Tea Party Supporters everywhere they’re finally being heard and represented by a group of intellectual equals in a recent crop of ameture reviews. You’re right, that really wasn’t fair and I’m sorry Iggy. In any event, I really do find it fascinating to watch the behavior of these three unusual users. It’s obvious that the two year old edges out the Corgi, but I’m not so sure about the Nobu Nobi Boy playing cat. All kidding and political prodding aside, I think these videos really demonstrate how exceptionally well designed the user interface experience of the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch really is.
